My name is Zach Gossett and I am from Terre Haute, Indiana. In the fall of 2015, my high school team won the sectional championship against our home town rival. This win was especially significant to me. The game was concluded with a penalty kick shootout. I made two saves to secure the sectional title. After working hard for two years to become the varsity goalkeeper, this victory was a turning point in my soccer career. My hard work had finally paid off. The two years leading up to this title I learned that through rigorous training and dedication any goal could be accomplished. As acknowledgement to my hard work, dedication, and leadership, my coach made me a captain for the following season.
As a student athlete I have a commitment to both academics and athletics, and I am looking for a school that I can achieve excellence in both. In regards to the academics, I wish for the school to be selective or the most selective to accommodate my academic level. Within the soccer program I would like the school to allow me to work with my teammates to build a strong cohesive team which could progress the teams ability as well as my own. I believe that through my leadership qualities, expressed by my Terre Haute South Vigo Key Club presidency and my captain ships for my high school and club team, and my determination I would be a valuable asset to a college team.
