Personal Statement
My name is Yannick Poyda. I was born and currently live in Munich, Germany. I graduated at the German High School (Deutsche Schule Toulouse), in 2016. Soccer has always been my biggest passion, ever since I can remember. I started when I was only four years old in the Munich Club SV Lohhof where I played up to the age of 10. Then my family and I moved to Toulouse in France where I joined the US Colomiers soccer team playing last year in the highest U19-level in all France, playing against team such as AS Monaco or Toulouse FC, and finished my season with our 4th Division Team. It was really great to play in the Paradise Valley High School soccer team as a goalkeeper during my exchange year in Phoenix (2013/14) and that season was the school’s best performance in the past ten years. I am really proud to have contributed to this success, as I wanted to do my very best to help my team to the Playoffs, which we almost reached. Another really satisfying achievement for me was to have been voted into the Division 2 Team of the Year as a Goalkeeper. The year in Phoenix made me determined to try and have a shot at studying at a US college. This would also be a huge boost for my future career as English is the international language of communication. So I just want to say I am totally committed to making the grade in terms of both academic and athletic performance. At this point my ambition is to be accepted by a college in the United States where, as a goalkeeper, I could be part of a soccer team and a student community whose values I would be proud to share and uphold.
