Personal Statement
Hello coaches. If you are looking to recruit a standout midfielder who has a professional approach to the game, is coachable, disciplined, has excellent technical soccer skills and knowledge, and is a team player, I am that candidate. At 6' 2" I am taller than the average player and possess all-round skills. I kick with both feet, head the ball well, and have good ball control. I am calm in demeanor and play well under pressure. My coaches are always impressed with my technical and tactical skills.
My soccer skills had been identified by coaches from as early as 9 years old while playing in a Prep school competition. Since then, I have made significant contributions to winning Prep school competitions, played on all age-group teams in high school, and played club soccer. I also have experience playing in regional competition with teams from other regions in Central America.
In addition to my achievements in soccer, I have done quite well academically and have struck a good balance between playing soccer and my academics. Throughout my high school years, I have consistently been in the top 10 percentile in academic ranking. My academic achievements include maintaining A averages, being on the Principal's Honor Roll, and placing in the top 12 percentile of the regional CSEC examination for Principles of Business. I was also recognized as the top student in the external CAPE exams for the subject Digital Design and Media.
I also earned the position of student leader (prefect) in high school - a position typically achieved by a student from his peers and the school administration, based on the level of discipline.
My desire is to attend college by means of an academic and or athletic scholarship to pursue a first degree in computer studies or business management. This will provide me with an opportunity to further develop my soccer skills, significantly contribute to my college's success in soccer and academics, and provide a platform for achieving my career objectives.
I am currently pursuing a Gap year in Spain to sharpen my soccer skills and learn a new language and culture. I can definitely add value to your soccer program and your college.
