Personal Statement

My interest in the field of sports/exercise/Physio comes from my desire for growth and progression in all aspects of life especially health, as I strongly believe if the human body isn’t at its optimal level then your mind doesn’t perform at its highest either and without both then you are not able to grow as an individual.

I am a Center back/outside back, I played 1st team for my high school team, captain/vice captain. I also played for Blackburn rovers u14/15 reserves at academy level, I have also trialed at Manchester City Fc, Wigan athletic and also Oldham athletic Fc. I was also fortunate enough to be selected to travel to Brazil to live and train with ‘club athletico do Porto’ academy for a full summer. I’m a strong and very physical canter back and although I’m not the tallest Center back/outside back I make up for my height with my speed and athleticism, I currently play for the manchester college 18+adult team we currently play in BUCS league playing against other colleges and universitiesand not only did I enjoy taking part and participating in the sport I had a strong admiration towards the physios & the coaches who where constantly at work creating new challenges which where designed to improve our athletic abilities and strengthening us.

After I decided to pursue sports&exercise science, I sought out various opportunities to gain more experience in the field. I shadowed the physio department of FC United of Manchester. I worked with youth sports clubs as a volunteer such as future city fc & Whitworth park sports club in the local area, sports leadership program, and organized sporting events for a variety of clubs and schools. I loved how happy all the children were when playing, and how quickly they could recover if they had the right support.

In addition, I am heavily involved in my brother’s therapy and strengthening, as he is a quadriplegic and suffers from severe cerebral palsy. I found a special type of patience in myself when working with him. I accompany him to most of his appointments; this has allowed me to also gain a greater appreciation for my health. Although some may view his situation as challenging to the family I feel as though the responsibilities is what has allowed me to grow and mature a lot faster in comparison to a lot of people from my age group. Responsibilities such as organizing appointments, scheduling his feeding times and changing times also recreational activities. All of these responsibilities have allowed me to gain monumental skills such as organization which I believe is essential for a person to progress in the professional world

Furthermore because of my commitment to personal and professional growth, I believe that I have the ability to become a great athlete and and a great athletic trainer. Through my experiences, I understand the importance of putting others first and working with them rather than working completely autonomously. Only by understanding their struggles can I make the best recommendations for them and help them improve more quickly and efficiently. I think that the relationships that coaches and others in similar health departments are able to make are incredibly meaningful and fulfilling. Being seeing others improve their health and grow as an individual is something that drives me to work harder in pursuing my career in return.

i believe what differentiates me from others is the passion i have to win on the field and of it regardless of the situation, especially after taring my hamstring and being out of the game for almost 1 years+ and after being told that i will not be able to play again i am back to prove to everyone that nothing has changed with regards to my goals and ambition further more i believe i have returned stronger than i was before.

I am a Center back/outside back, I played 1st team for my high school team, captain/vice captain. I also played for Blackburn rovers u14/15 reserves at academy level, I have also trialed at Manchester City Fc, Wigan athletic and also Oldham athletic Fc.
