Personal Statement
My name is Juan Valdes and I play for Young Harris College in Georgia. I am a 19 year old Sophomore from Spain, but I am also a U.S citizen. My primary position on the field is defensive midfielder but I can play anywhere in the midfield as well as left-back. I am left footed and would be a good candidate for any team that desires to have the possession of the ball and control the game. During my two years at Young Harris, the team won the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, the South East region and played the Elite 8 in the national championship, as well as finishing 12th in the United Soccer Coaches ranking. Playing in this team has helped me develop my athletic capabilities, improve my game on the field and made me a more mature and intelligent player, getting used to the way of playing in the U.S.
I always give 100% in trainings to perform at a high level during games and improve in any way I can. This is also applied in the classroom, I am aware of the importance of good grades for student athletes and I always take classes seriously. Speaking three languages has helped me form stronger links with the majority of my teammates as well as people outside of the field.
I consider myself to be a respectful, loyal and hard working person. I have learned a lot at Young Harris College, but I aspire to learn even more wherever I end up in the future.
