Personal Statement
I am looking to develop my soccer whilst working on a Sport Management degree. I currently play at a Divisio Honoree club in Spain. I speak Spanish well and am on a student visa and attend Spanish Classes. I am really enjoying living in the Spanish culture and moving into another new cultural experience would be awesome. Previously as an u19 and then u23 academy player here, I played some of the very large La Liga clubs. I was an invited player to national team trials (NDC at the Australia Institute of Sport, 2016).
Doing these things from a small rural town (Launceston, Australia) and with significant travel, demonstrates my commitment and resilience. As a student, I completed my High School studies and gained a solid ATAR of 63 (approx. GPA 3.0). Math and Science-based subjects have proven to be my best and those I enjoy the most. Sometimes achievement is about the 'hard work no-one else sees': it builds resilience and character. I certainly needed these attributes to get my grades and body back on track during and after a long illness in senior high school!.
My goal is to be the best person I can be, the best footballer I can be, and the best student I can be.
I believe I have a very good level of soccer talent, commitment, and resilience to keep progressing towards my playing goal. I too have the academic acumen and student skills to be a valuable contributor and do well in my college course. Teamwork and being part of a team, on or off the pitch - the responsibility, being reliable, demonstrating integrity, and work ethic are valuable assets of mine I bring to all aspects of my life. I value honesty, humour, perspective, respect, graciousness, gratitude, and looking out for others. People who know me would use these terms to describe my character. You will note am I a volunteer beach surf lifesaver, paid pool lifeguard, and contribute to the community by being a blood donor and coach club and elite juniors. These things speak to some of my personal attributes.
I have been fortunate enough to have a number of good soccer people direct me in the last few years and they would attest to my above attributes. These include; Juan Carlos Anon (at the Academy); Anthony Williams (Welsh National Goalkeeping coach who identified me at the Asian trials that lead to the academy position); Arthur Papas (former NPL1 Victoria coach at Green Gully and current assistant coach at J-League champions Yokohama FC) and Dean May former Australian Football Goalkeeping Manager who invited me to the u17 national trials and later invited me to a UK/Spain GK tour.
Completed high school in 2020, looking to be at college to play in fall 2022.
