Personal Statement
Saving a Penalty Kick to win the Semi-Finals of the Iowa State Cup (Fall 2015) has been the highlight of my club soccer career. I am fortunate to currently be part of a very strong club program and I have been honored to be selected for the Iowa ’01 ODP team. I started playing organized soccer during 4th grade on an International School team and with a local club while living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During my 3 years in Malaysia I developed my love for the game, a strong foundation of skills and strategy that are unique amongst Americans. Soccer has taught me the value of teamwork, commitment and leadership. I am focused on developing my size, strength and competitive skills so that I will be ready to compete at the highest collegiate levels and beyond.
I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me academically, as well as, athletically. I place a high value on the educational opportunity that comes with being a student-athlete. I believe that I have the talent to compete on behalf of a college team and that my character, work-ethic and leadership skills can make an immediate impact on a program. As a two-sport athlete and a captain, I know what takes to be a leader on your team.
