Personal Statement

For college, my goal is to graduate with distinction in a sports, medicine, or business discipline and excel at the highest level of competitive soccer. I am currently in my senior year of high school. I am enrolled in two honors/AP classes. I spent the summer competing in ECNL U/18-U19 with Sporting Wichita at the state, and regional level. I trained and competed in USYF U/18-U19 with Sporting Wichita at the state, regional, and national level over the summer. This Fall my Maize South High School teammates and I trained and competed to reach our goal to repeat as Kansas State 5A Champions. We successfully reached our goal to become back to back state champions in the Kansas State 5A championship, by creating a shared vision of who we are and what we valued. We focused on decreasing complacency and increasing the urgency of excelling at every opportunity. We practiced and prepared for each game, with a sense of respect for every opponent on our schedule. Our team culture was built on the core belief that the team would succeed by leveraging the strengths of every player.

I am currently training with my Sporting Wichita 06/05 teammates in the ECNL regional league. We are competing in the Heartland South division. I consistently put in the extra training outside of team practice to improve my tactical skills, passing and shooting accuracy, and strengthen my physical conditioning and mental toughness. I train in multiple sports to find my limits and develop my self to push beyond them. I also train multiple days a week with the Wichita Shocker Track club to improve my personal records in sprints, hurdles, and horizontal jumps. My goal is to improve my speed, quickness and power. I believe that team achievements are built on a commitment to delivering a personal best at every opportunity.

  • US Youth Futsal
  • 1 year

  • Futsal
  • 2 years
  • Futsal training has helped me improve my poise on the ball under pressure in tight spaces on the soccer pitch. In highly competitive environments at regional and national events, I have improved my balance and speed of transition from defending to attacking posture. The level of competition My experience on the regional and national level of competition this year in futsal has improved my on-ball foot skills, mental quickness and off-ball spatial alertness.
  • Track
  • 4 years
  • During the winter and spring track seasons I train in sprints, hurdles, and jumps to strengthen and stabilize different muscle groups to improve resistance to injury. Track training in addition to improving my cardiovascular conditioning also improves my leg acceleration, drive speed and power in sprints and hurdles. This enables me to close down attackers more efficiently and with greater physical intensity. Vertical and horizontal jump training improves my ability and performance to expand my envelope in attacking and winning the ball at the highest and furthest point of the interception path.
  • Taekwando
  • 1 year
  • Training in local dojo on the fundamentals of kicking with power and precision in a sparring environment is fun. Martial arts training enhances my mental focus and concentration, improves my physical flexibility and resilience, increases my self confidence and discipline, and provides opportunities to build trust, respect, and humility in a competitive learning setting with other martial arts athletes.
