Personal Statement
My name is Eddy Irumva. I am a Senior at STEAM Academy and I currently play varsity soccer for Bryan Station High School. My position of preference is a striker or in the number system, positions seven, eleven and/or nine. I also have experience with multiple other soccer teams including the Lexington Football Club 01 - White Team. In Lexington, I have received the honor of being an All City Player 3 times during my high school athletic career. I have also made the All-District team and been an All-Region Player. I have been a Leader that played a Piece in my Team's first District championship and first time competing in the region tournament. I have helped break many boundaries for my school. Though my team has been very young and not had many successes, I would like to say I have always been memorable; I exhibited my abilities and skills during my sophomore year with fourteen goals (including two hat tricks) and my junior year with twelve goals (including two hat tricks). I have gone on to score 20 goals my junior year and a stunning 28 my senior year. That includes 4 district goals , 2 district tournament goals and various headers. I have created 15 opportunities for my teammates to score including two decisive assists in the district final. As a striker, my strengths also include ball handling and creating space and opportunities for my teammates. This has resulted in eight assists in my high school career. I am contacting you to be assertive and take charge in the athletic and educational experience that I would receive on and off the Field . I would like to plan a meeting or arrange a way for me to display my skill set to your coaching staff. My leadership skills go beyond the field and into my community and school. My academic performance and my multiple leadership roles would make me a great option for a collegiate athlete. I am very active in my community through the three committees I take part in: The NoLi CDC Community and Cultural Initiatives committee, Lextran advisory group, and The North Lexington Cultural Plan Implementation Team. I also lead a project to create an area for my community to enjoy soccer. On this project I worked with council member James Brown, Director of Design at Parks and Rec Michelle Kosieniak, the founder of Common Good Laura Gallagher, many members of the North Lexington Community Development Corporation, and other students who were passionate about soccer. Through my project I have been granted three grants (Castlewood Futsal Project from The Kresge Foundation, Castlewood Futsal Development Project from North Lexington Community Development Corporation, and Castlewood Futsal Cunituiation from Bluegrass Community Foundation) and lots of support from the mayor with an $8,000 fund for my project. My team and I were recognized by the mayor at a city council meeting this year for our dedication to community development. I love many aspects of soccer, but mostly that people of all demographics that live in my neighborhood can enjoy the connective power that soccer has within society.
