Personal Statement
I am a refugee from Burundi and moved to the United States of America in the summer of 2018 along with my family. When I came to America, I did not know the culture or language. Now, I am seeing myself thriving in this new place, growing in my athletic and academic ability.
Becoming a student-athlete is an incredible opportunity to represent the college both in my field of study and in playing soccer. My goal is to succeed in both school and soccer; I also want to be the very best person I can be. I strive to have strong moral and ethical character, and also be known for my integrity. My faith in Jesus is central to who I am and I am a part of my church's choir.
What is so important to me as a soccer player is being a good teammate, encouraging others while I am playing on the field, and knowing the only way to succeed as a team is by working together, trusting one another, and lifting each other up. That is how we succeed together to win games.
