Personal Statement
I have been playing soccer since I can remember, going from YMCA recreational teams to Maine ODP. From middle school and travel soccer through to high school my favorite thing to do has always been playing soccer, whether it is during a game or a kick-around with friends. In high school I made the Varsity soccer team (full time) as a sophomore. During my junior year I was a captain, and made the Penobscot Valley Conference third team. Both sophomore year and junior year our varsity team reached the Northern Maine Finals. My club team is Acadia Fire. During my second year with the team we made I made it to the state finals with the U17 and U19 teams. I am also starting my second year of Maine ODP.
As a player I am known for my technique and vision. As an attacking midfielder, I am the player my teams are built around, with our attacks being centered around me. I have great vision and passing, especially finding the last through-ball to the forwards. My ball skills are very good, specifically my touches are consistent. As well I am very good at shooting (inside the box or from distance), and creating the space to get shots off. Off of the ball, I have a great work ethic, always closing down gaps and passing lanes, and never giving up when my team is down. I also am a team leader, always helping people out on the field and making sure everybody knows and does their jobs.
Academically I take honors and AP courses. I have always pushed myself as a student to challenge myself as much as possible. I am currently the vice president on our school's student council, meaning that next year I will be the council president. The president's role includes: running school events, setting up laws, as well as communicating with the student body and faculty. Also, I like to travel when I can and experience other cultures. I have family in England, so I travel to Europe now and then. I went on a school trip to Peru. During that trip I convinced some of my friends to come with me to a soccer field in the town Machu Picchu, and after having one of them translate with some people their we were able to start a 7 aside game.
