Personal Statement
I've been around the sport of soccer since the day my mom left the hospital with me. We checked out in the morning, and I was at practice while she coached, at Thomas College in central Maine, less than 12 hours later. Since then, it's taken over a large part of my life and has helped mold me into the person I am today. It has taught me important lessons in integrity, leadership, commitment, and teamwork. I've met some of my best friends, which all live at least an hour away, through club soccer and have developed friendships that will last a lifetime.
During the fall of my sophomore year, I had to go through an event which tested the character that soccer has developed in me. After almost every game, a group of players from the soccer team would get together to just hang out and relax. On this day, one of my teammates brought a vape pen along with him. When I saw what it was, I was soon able to convince 2 of my friends to leave with me, as I knew it was against the morals I have for myself and the commitment I have to play college soccer. In the end, 8 players were kicked off of the soccer team. I was not.
My commitment to want to play collegiate soccer and the character soccer has taught me kept me on the team when many of my good friends were kicked off. I want to find a program that will be a strong fit for my high academic standard, the strong values I possess, and to reach my full potential as a soccer player while helping your program to success. I feel that I not only have the talent, but also possess the leadership, character, and commitment to make a quick impact for your program.
