Personal Statement
I would love to play for a quality collegiate soccer program at the highest level possible. More importantly, I want to find a college coach that really cares about the soccer program and developing his players. I would not fit in well on a team that does not care about training or growing. I prefer to be a play-maker on a well organized team over being a head-liner on a team that plays as individuals. For example, I did not enjoy my ODP experience because I was more interested in representing my state by playing quality soccer than being identified for the goals I scored.
My character, work ethic, and leadership skills are what sets me apart. I believe in leading by example and being the hardest worker in practice and in the off season. I grew up in a soccer family and have been surrounded by professional players and coaches my entire life. That experience has taught me a great deal about the commitment it takes to become a highly skilled player, but also what kind of role model I want to be. I was influenced most by the players/coaches that took the time to invest in helping me over the ones that just wanted to prove how good they were. Now that I am older and can assist at camps myself, I find it most rewarding to connect and inspire the kids I work with. Aside from the fact that I love the game and enjoy playing on a team, one of the key reasons I want to play for respected collegiate soccer program is to motivate the kids in my region of the country. Maine is not typically a state that produces good soccer players, but I want to be an example that anyone can make it if they put in the time and effort.
