Benjamin Butterfield '19 Recruiting Profile

Hello,

My name is Ben and I am on this website for the furthering of my career into college soccer. When I was thirteen I decided that soccer was a really cool sport, " the world's sport" as I used to call it. I then began to dedicate more and more of my free time to it and began to improve my game. The next year, which was my eighth-grade year, I became captain of my school's team and scored three hat tricks that season.

I have played soccer before I was thirteen, even back to before I was in grade school. I only started to take it seriously after I decided that it was something I wanted to do and I have come such an extraordinarily long way since then. I remember the summer before my freshmen year I began to learn how to juggle. My record after the end of the first day was six. I kept a chart that showed my ten-attempt average and it went up and up over the summer until it reached over fifty in the fall. My juggling record is now over fifteen hundred.

In my two most recent seasons I've played as a starter for my high school team.  Junior year I was starting midfield wing and scored four goals in my first five games. My senior year, my team lost three starting defenders and they needed a center back. I gave up my position as an attacker and goal scorer to further my team to the Maine Class C Southern Semi-final game and become conference champions. I do hope that it is the only the beginning for me.

I am very committed and excited to begin the next step of my career!
