Personal Statement
I started playing soccer when I was 7 years old, I fell in love with it since. I was born in Portugal (Lisbon), a place where soccer is considered birthright. At a young age, my parents got divorced and I moved to Guinea-Bissau (West Africa). The passion for soccer in that country is incredible, everyone plays and watches soccer. I adapted to the beautiful culture quickly because of my profound love for soccer. The one thing I learned during my 8 years in Bissau is that soccer isn't just a sport it is a lifestyle. It was truly inspirational to see kids from different races, religions, and social classes come together and play soccer. Soccer also had a big impact on me speaking 5 languages (Creolo, Portuguese, English, French and Spanish) fluently. I am very thankful to have the opportunity of studying in the US at one of the most prestigious Jesuit Highschools. I put hard work in academics, social injustice, and soccer. I am looking forward to playing soccer for as long as I can.
