Personal Statement
My name is Tyler Lewin. I have grown up in a military family, living in 7 states. I have been playing soccer ever since I was four, and have been kicking a ball ever since I could walk. In addition to soccer, I have played basketball and tennis starting at the age of 5. I have also played baseball, starting at the age of 6, and played it the second most out of any other sport (second to soccer of course) all the way up to middle school. Lastly, I love to golf and still golf at least every other few weeks in the year. All of these sports have helped develop my character and mold me into the athlete I am today. I have a very good work ethic. I'm out practicing 3 or 4 hours each day of the week, and when I'm not practicing or playing a game, I'm out knocking the ball around with my friends. I have a strong love and passion for the game. I always watch it as much as possible and help coach my brother's team, as well as local u8, u10, and u11 squads. My goals as far as soccer would be that I would love to play past college, in the professionals, and possibly have a career coaching later on in life. Another thing that sets me apart from others is that I have a very positive attitude on and off the field. I lead my team from the back through thick and thin, and always encourage us to push as hard as we can in practices and during fitness training. This also ties in with a good character. I love to help out the community at any chance I get. As I previously said, I help coach the younger age kids, and I feel that I am a role model for them. Off the field, I'm always participating in food drives, shoe donations, donating items to those in need, and helping with disabled people, especially my cousin. More importantly, I do my best to be on top of all school work. I always do my homework, study before a quiz or test, and get the extra help, like a tutor, if I feel that I need it. A few of my significant soccer accomplishments are that I have played in the Maryland Majors Men's League with the IFK Maryland Men's team from the age of 14 to 15 years old. They joined a semi-pro league, the ASL, and I played in that with them from the age of 15 to 16 years. I also was in the Alabama ODP team in 2010 and 2011. In 2010, my club team also went on to win the Alabama State Cup. I was on the Maryland ODP Team from 2012-2013, and 2013-2014. Through all theses experiences, I have been able to become a better leader, a better person, and a better soccer player.
