Personal Statement
My name is Andrew Coelho and I’m currently a senior at Gloucester High School. I’ve been playing soccer ever since I could walk and I’ve always dreamed of taking it to the next level and being able to play for a high level college team. I’ve started for varsity ever since I was a freshman and I’ve been playing club soccer for almost 8 years now. I have been working very hard on the field, off the field, and in the classroom in order to be able to play at the collegiate level. I am very determined to succeed and I set high expectations for myself in order to push myself. Being in an environment with other college athletes will help benefit me in many different ways. I always want to improve my game and I want to be the hardest working player on the field. My extreme work ethic has shaped me into the aggressive player and High Honor Roll, National Honors Society student I am today. I’ve always challenged myself academically because I want to push myself to be the best version of myself possible. Because of this, many people view me as a leader, on and off the field. As a junior and a senior, I have been named a 3 sport captain, being the captain of the soccer team as well as the indoor and outdoor track team. Having a great deal of varsity experience has helped me guide the incoming freshman, taking over as a leader for this team. I remember what it was like when I was the nervous freshman on varsity, I had something to prove and I worked hard in order to get to where I am today. I’m ready to take that next step into a new chapter of my life. With my work ethic, determination, and leadership skills, I am ready to succeed in a competitive environment surrounded by people who want what’s best for me and who will motivate me everyday to become the best version of myself.
