Dear College Coaches,
My name is George D. Price and I am currently a junior at St. Sebastian's School in Needham, Massachusetts. I am 5ft 11in tall, 155 pounds and have been described as one of the fastest strikers many coaches have seen play. I run the 40 in 5.10, have a vertical jump of 25.5 and a pro agility score of 4.52. I have been playing soccer my entire life.
Over the last five years, I have played Striker for various Regional club teams including the Red Devils, Boston Bolts, Boston Bolts Pre-Academy and FC Blazers. During those years, I have have earned a State Championship (for U-16) and a second place finish in the States two years earlier. My teams have also won a number of local and regional tournaments.
In addition to playing club soccer, I have also played Varsity High School Soccer since my Freshman year, During my Freshman and Sophmore years, I played as a lone Striker and had numerous goals and assists. This year, as a Junior, I have been playing Center Midfielder. In High School Soccer I pride myself on being a leader on and off the field. Due to the lack of experience of many players in HIgh School, in comparison to Club Soccer, I recognize that a successful High School team needs a player that can set an example as an emotional leader, maintaining composure even in the most frustrating of situations, as well as being a source of skill and flare on the field. My efforts to help others as well as being successful among other top players is reflected in my nomination for Team Captain in the 2011-2012 season. My coach nominated me as an ISL allstar this year which I won.
Although I am open to any geographical location in regards to my college choices, my preference would be to stay in the Northeast. I like the idea of going to college close to home; however, I do not want to limit myself from experiences outside my comfort zone. I am currently enrolled in a Catholic HIgh School; religion, academics and sports have certainly been intertwined since middle school. I recognize, however, that academics and athletics would take priority when making a final college decision. Size and Division are both minimal factors to me as I am confident in my ability to play soccer at any level in college, while immersed in any atmosphere. I am just as open to a small Division III college as I am to a powerhouse Division I college. I don't want to be limited in options, nor do I want to ignore opportunities that present themselves.
In the end, I am most interested in a great undergraduate college that has the academic platform that will let me go on to medical school. I am a high honors student in largely AP classes and pride myself equally on my academic and athletic skills. I would like to continue that path in college and sincerely hope this letter tells you a little more about me and my goals in having a college choose me. Whatever college that is, I will make them very, very proud.
Respectfully,
George D. Price
