Personal Statement

Success is built around numerous failures that test your will and character to keep working to become the best version of yourself you can possibly be. To be the best at anything working through the failures and loss is the ultimate mindset to a winner. This is why I am never satisfied. Satisfaction comes when someone is blessed with success which is why as a leader and captain preaching the words “Don't work hard to lose, work hard right now to win” render every day at practice and games. Success isn’t given, it has to be earned. As a determined and persevered student-athlete my collegiate goals include taking the best path for me to experience a successful life. A relentless mindset drives me to excel not only on the field but in school, at home and to become the best version of myself I can be. Regarding playing soccer for me all twenty or so players on a team all have a certain role and everyone has to buy into the process. If it is not playing for four years but showing up to every meeting, practice and game extra early to push others to become great or if it is a starter for all four years and becoming a leader, I just want to win. In my eyes, I have something most athletes can not offer when playing the game. I'm not one to boast or brag but leadership and character don't form overnight, instead, it is earned and taken in from numerous occurrences of adversity, downfall and leading others when someone needs to step up. Even though the game is 90 minutes long, there are countless hours in the weight room to improve, studying film and being the first to show up to practices and last to leave. My best attribute is not to be a follower but to push others to manifest their greatness and even if there is no ‘C’ or ‘A’ on your jersey doesn't mean you can't lead your team. Being an outstanding student-athlete means balancing both academics and athletics, leading on and off the field and becoming the best version of yourself while pushing others to be at their best.
