Personal Statement
When people hear the word "soccer” they think of it as just another sport but, when I hear it, I get goosebumps. I have been playing soccer since I was in kindergarten. Growing up in Nigeria, football (soccer) is what we eat and breathe and that aided my development as a player. I have always dreamt about making it into the big leagues, for example, MLS, Premier League, La Liga, etc. but, the peak will be eventually to put on my country's jersey at the World Cup. To make it up there, I have to take things one step at a time and that is, making sure I complete my education because that comes first before anything, and my family has instilled that in me, and playing college soccer will help me enjoy the best of both worlds.
I have gained so much experience playing competitively both in Nigeria and here in the United States. My leadership skills are excellent been the captain of my school’s soccer team in Nigeria and also the Assistant Head Boy of the school. I'm always ready and eager to learn new things both on and off the pitch because I believe in constant learning. My strong ability to communicate openly and take constructive criticism allows me to understand and adapt to the team’s principles. As a multi-sport athlete, I'm able to play in any position on the pitch very effectively when needed, and it also increases my competitiveness, passion, and drive towards winning.
