Growing up in a Brazilian and Native American Mohawk household, my love for sports was instilled in me at a very young age. Ever since I could walk, I either had a ball at my feet or a lacrosse stick in my hands. Even though I excelled and had great success in other sports like lacrosse and basketball, my true passion is playing soccer. I aspire to play for a competitive collegiate soccer program where I can bring my strengths and add to the collective whole of the program while pursuing my academic studies.
Living on the U.S.-Canadian border, I played for a Canadian club team from the U8 division until now at the highest competitive level, Tier 1 Provincial. This opportunity allowed me to play teams from across Ontario and Quebec provinces including top teams in Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto. For every season, I was the top scorer on the team. I also had the opportunity to play for two American clubs: Syracuse Development Academy and Empire United MLS Next Academy. Both programs helped me to elevate my game by participating in large national tournaments and US Soccer DA showcases. Living abroad in Brazil and training with the Sport Clube do Recife, helped me to overcome obstacles and fears. During this time, I truly learned what perseverance and grit really mean. For the last three years, I have been playing for my high school team at the Berkshire School and the Black Rock Football Club.
Through the years, I have played for various teams and coaches. I have learned how to adapt to new situations and overcome adversity. For high school, I attend a preparatory boarding school. While soccer is a key part of my life, academics play a greater role. I am currently enrolled in advanced classes, and have a 3.7 GPA. I also believe in the importance of contributing to my school community. I am a student leader for our school’s admissions program and sustainability committee student representative. I believe that I would make a positive impact on my future college team, because I am willing to be the hardest working person on the field and never give up no matter how hard the challenge. I value my teammates and understand that it takes a group working towards a common goal to be successful. I work very well with others, and have always been a great team leader. I am always willing to listen to my teammates’ opinions and improve our team chemistry. I look forward to contributing to your soccer program, and I promise to play with integrity, sportsmanship, and passion for the “jogo bonito.”
