Personal Statement
I've always been taught to finish my school work quickly and efficiently so that I could go outside and play soccer with my brother and neighbors. This idea of academics first has always been pushed upon me by my parents, teachers, and youth coaches. Little did I know that I could potentially have the opportunity to play college soccer while earning an academic degree. I always thought that I could play at such a high level, however, I was very resilient towards starting the process and approaching both college coaches and my own coaches. I have never been able to work with any serious coaching staff until I began high school soccer where I joined the varsity team my sophomore year. Nevertheless, my local town teams that I played for, always had a successful season despite the lack of club soccer that I played. The cost of a club team had always caused my parents to turn away from that opportunity. Since my sophomore high school season, I have only improved because of the coaching staff and increase of practice time. I feel that in college, I will be able to enhance my game even further.
In terms of academics, I have made sure to work as hard as I can in the classroom which has earned me a B+ average in most of my classes. Once I am in college, receiving a degree will be a very important goal of mine. However, working towards a successful season on the field is just as important as my academic career for the school that I play for.
