A really influential part to my experience of soccer was my freshman and sophomore year in high school. In my freshman season for soccer I learned to bond with new teammates and a new playing style I wasn’t used to. It was much faster than what I was used to but that helped me further develop my skills. We went on to win the state championship and grow as a team. I learned to be more of a team player instead of an individual mindset and that hard work truly does pay off.
As I joined the team again in my sophomore year it was hard letting go of the seniors but I knew it was time to move on and win another championship. My confidence grew immensely from last season as I felt the team’s mindset was to play for each other and nothing else. We got to the finals again but unfortunately lost. Although it was a very devastating moment it helped me learn that nothing in life is that easy. The loss showed me that you can’t expect to get everything in life as easy as you may want it to be.
