Personal Statement
Hello I am Diego Campos,
I'm currently a junior at St. Philip Catholic Central High School and I also attend the Battle Creek Area Math and Science Center. I first began playing soccer as a preeschooler and my only memory is us getting cookies after the games. I first began to understand soccer the first time my family moved down to Mexico in 2006 (I was 5), where I came to love it and live it. I also did other sports such as swimming and tae kwan do while I was there. I have an older brother who I've always looked up to and I always wanted to participate in the sports he did. But my love for soccer was so that when he quit, I stayed on. We moved back to Michigan in the summer of 2011 and remained here for two years. I continued swimming and tae kwon do, but also picked up cross country running.
We moved back to Mexico in 2013 where I continued soccer and running. While living in Queretaro I played with two club teams, the second being Academia de Futbol Inter Queretaro. With both teams I played up to two age groups above mine as the coaches of the older boys teams liked how I played. I won the respective leagues of most of the age groups on both teams.
During the summer of 2016 we once again moved back to Michigan, where I am attending St. Philip Catholic Central High School. During the fall of 2016 I played for the schools Co-op team with Calhoun Christian. There we won our conference and I had the most assists on the team (18) and second most goals scored (10). I was an All Conference Team player and was also selected for the All-City Battle Creek Enquirer Soccer team of the year.
I joined Kingdom SC where I played up an age group for the spring of 2017.
Soccer is a sport I love. I try to watch it at any point that I can, and I very much enjoy learning about and playing the beautiful game.
