Personal Statement
I intend to pursue a college career as student / athlete. I understand that my academic success in college will most likely guide my future. The high school that I attend instills the three pillars of Character, Truth, and Wisdom in its students. These pillars are the foundation of leadership. Leadership on and off the field is what distinguishes good athletes from great people and I am grateful for the opportunity to bring these qualities to the soccer field.
Soccer has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I have played travel soccer for 8 years for Pato's Magic Soccer Club and have excelled through his program and training. Pato Margetic coached my U14 Premiere Team to the State Cup title in 2015. I have had the opportunity to play on competitive indoor and outdoor teams through Magic Soccer. Coaches Pato Margetic and Coach Chris Fisher have invited me to play for multiple U19 teams within the club as well as my current U18 team.
I tend to play a very aggressive and defensive style of play while in the box. Pato has also encouraged me to play out at times, giving me time to work on my ball control and distribution.
My varsity high school career began at the age of 12 at Oakdale Academy. MACS (Michigan Association of Christian Schools) permit students to participate in varsity sports beginning in 6th grade. I have been a full-time goalkeeper for our varsity team since 6th grade and we had a three-peat of the MACS Men’s Varsity Soccer State Championships in 2016, 2017, & 2018 (being undefeated in divisional play in both '17 & '18). Due to the graduation of our senior players in spring of 2018, I was asked to play out for the 2018 season and scored 22 goals and had 24 assists.
The opportunity to play with older players has given me the confidence to play in an aggressive style and provide leadership skills on the field at an early age. I look forward to having this same opportunity at the college level and continue learning additional skills through college programming.
