Personal Statement
My name is Brandon Blumenstein and I have been playing soccer since I was 4. I have been playing for the Dearborn Jaguars since I was 8, most recently we competed in the MSPSL Premier 2 division and ended up in the middle at the end of spring. I started on the freshman soccer team at Dearborn High School last fall and will be a sophomore there this fall. There is something about controlling a ball and working with teammates to win a game that keeps me committed to soccer.
I believe what sets me apart from other players is my coachability, my good vision, and my ability to stay calm under pressure. Also, I am always open to new ways to improve my game and my training. I am truly dedicated and do not let my mistakes keep me from moving forward and growing as an athlete and as a person. This summer, in particular, I have been working hard on strength training, speed, and agility. This has improved my quickness to the ball and the strength of my kick.
Academically, I finished with a GPA of a 3.92. I am currently enrolled in the Dearborn Computer, Math, Science, and Technology program through my high school. This means half of the day, I am taking advanced STEM courses, such as honors chemistry, AP computer science, and honors math. I am looking forward to the college experience, particularly challenging myself academically and playing soccer at a higher level. Being a member of a team has been a large part of my identity since I was young and I look forward to exploring options for college teams over the next three years of high school.
