Personal Statement
Earning my black belt at 12 years old taught me the value of passion, perseverance, and dedication. I take those values with me on the soccer field both as a player and a USSF Certified Referee. Every position I play and every game I officiate is an opportunity to do my absolute best and help others reach their full potential as well.
During my freshman season, my mom underwent chemo and a stem cell transplant. That experience in my family taught me that hard times reveal character. I learned to never let adversity define my potential. Also during my freshman season, I befriended a teammate who recently immigrated to the United States. We worked together with his one year of English and my one year of Spanish to translate the drills and plays that ultimately drove our team to a 2nd place finish in our conference as freshman. Most recently, in Fall 2020 our JVHS team took Conference Champions. Those team experiences taught me the importance of embracing every teammate to reach a common goal.
I believe these life experiences will make me an asset to a college team. I will approach any challenge with passion. I will approach every opportunity with a spirit of teamwork. I will persevere until we achieve success as a team.
