Ɛfoa Nkↄnye nye Godfroi!
Hello! My name is Messan (Godfroi) Lawson and I want to go to a 4-year college to continue playing soccer at a high level. My educational goal is to become a physician's assistant, a career that combines my interest in science, healthcare, and helping people. I’ve been playing soccer since I was 2 years old when I lived in Togo, (Africa). When I came to the United States in 2016, I played many pickup games with my brothers, friends, and neighbors in North Minneapolis, Minnesota. I started playing organized team soccer starting in my 10th grade season at St. Anthony Village High School in St. Anthony Village, Minnesota. Last year I had an amazing opportunity to play overseas in the United Kingdom. I attended the Richmond International Academic and Soccer Academy (RIASA). I was able to play 9 months out of the year in a very competitive football/soccer environment. This experience helped me to grow as a player and to learn game strategy. I was able to study courses in sports management and football history in the birthplace of the game. During the year I scored 5 goals and had 6 assists playing forward/leftwing against other top level UK Academy teams such as Farzali FC and Blackpool.
I consider myself a student of the game and pride myself on my fitness discipline. I am back home in Minnesota looking to continue my career and education in the United States so my family and friends can see me play more games. I have strong connections with my teammates. I try my best to be a leader and influence others to work hard. I am passionate and dedicated to making myself a better player. I am also positive and open-minded about taking direction. I often take time to reflect on my performances to be a better player and teammate. I believe I am different from other recruits because soccer is more than just a sport for me. It is my everything. I live, breathe, and consume everything that involves soccer--even sometimes helping out with my younger sister’s U12 soccer team. I am excited about what the future holds for me as a player at the next level.
Thank you for taking the time to review my profile.
