Hello - my name is Alexander “AJ” Schrick and I am currently a senior at Platte County High School (Class of 2024) in Kansas City, MO.
My father is a retired military officer so I have lived, traveled and played internationally in Europe as well as the U.S. I was born in Hawaii and started playing soccer at the age of 4 in Belgium, followed by three years of club soccer in Northern Virginia and three years in Stuttgart, Germany. Since 2017, I have been a vital member for the Sporting Blue Valley 05 Academy, a Sporting Kansas City affiliate club in Overland Park, Kansas. Although moving so often was not fun at the time, it challenged me to overcome language and cultural barriers, learn from new coaches and to play various positions. It made me resilient and inspired me to travel the world and experience new activities.
During my four year Varsity high school career, I helped lead my team to a 62-20 record. I had a very successful 2023 high school season (Senior). As Captain, I led our team to 15-5 record and was the Silver Boot Award Winner with 15 assists and 4 goals and selected as the Team's Offensive Most Valuable Player. I was selected 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-Region and 1st Team Missouri Class 3 All-State. During my 2022 high school season (Junior) I was selected for 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-District, and the Missouri Class 3 Region 4 1st Team. While I am most comfortable playing as a center attacking midfielder, center mid and center defensive mid, I am a versatile player with extensive time as a forward, outside back and outside midfielder. Academically, I continue to excel and will soon complete a two-year aeronautical technician program. I was also inducted in to the National Honor Society with a weighted GPA of 4.2. My intent is to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with career aspirations of becoming an Aerospace Engineer for NASA.
My goal is to continue competing and playing soccer at the highest level, develop into a student-athlete to help a soccer program win conference championships and compete for a national championship. I am confident my position versatility, creativity, and technical skills combined with my academic success, leadership skills and character will make an immediate impact on a soccer program and university.
All the best,
AJ
