Hello, future coaches. I am a student athlete who is as passionate about sports as I am about school. Despite a late fall season start due to COVID, my high school varsity soccer team made school history, winning the first Missouri High School State Championship for Class 2. It was an amazing experience, especially since our team had never made it past the first games of the district playoffs. I was very proud of the work I did to prepare for this winning season as a starting Attacking Midfielder. I used the time during COVID to change my strength and endurance training and found a local D2 soccer coach to help me with my technical skills. Currently, I am focusing on the preparation for my senior year by accelerating my conditioning through Varsity Water Polo, weight training, running and playing indoor soccer with my team mates. I also know the first hand the importance of team work and working together to reach a goal. We all became team players who cared more about winning as a team than our personal stats or awards That was the key from going from never winning a district title to going all the way to win the State Championship.
Soccer is an integral part of my life and I have a strong passion and love for the sport. I want to find a college that values the student athlete, both on and off the field. My high school is a rigorous college prep high school which has continued its challenging curriculum during COVID. I constantly challenge myself through AP and honors courses, and I am looking towards college as my next challenge.
Off the field, I have continued to focus on my volunteer work and working towards my Gold Medal for the Congressional Awards, which I will earn in May 2021. When my volunteer counselor position at a grade school soccer camp got cancelled last summer, I focused on planning and executing emergency blood drives with a local hospital and educational company. I continue to serve on the Mayor’s Teen Council and was awarded a Youth Service America grant which allowed me to put together 250 ‘thank you” packages for Healthcare Heroes working during Halloween at a local hospital.
I believe I am prepared not only to succeed academically in college, but also to be a dedicated, hard working team player on the soccer field. I am willing to do what it takes to meet these goals.
