Charles Teachey '19 Recruiting Profile

While I have played multiple sports throughout my youth, soccer has been the sport that has held my passion. Since being introduced to the sport at 3 years old, it has been the central part of my athletic life and has taught me many lessons that I have found have helped me succeed in other facets of my life.  Having grown almost 12 inches taller only over just the last 18 months, I have always been one of the smallest players on the field.  Having to continually learn to compete and succeed against players bigger and stronger than me, I developed a work ethic and determination to sharpen my technical and tactical skills to give me the competitive edge I needed.  That work ethic and drive to succeed has carried over to my academic and personal life allowing me to thrive in those areas as well.

Playing at a high school that had the fewest club level players in the conference, I found the most satisfying part of high school soccer experience was my personal growth, as I realized I had to step out of my comfort zone and take the leadership on my team.  Having been fortunate enough to be on the most talented club team in my area of the state for several years, I was only responsible for my own personal accountabilities on the field.  Embracing that leadership on my school team, I found myself also stepping up to take the lead on classroom projects as well as relishing the opportunity to mentor less experienced soccer referees.  I was very proud of the leadership I provided my soccer team as my junior and senior years were highlighted by deep playoff runs and awards to include the Coaches Award.  My vision of the game combined with my technical abilities, ability to work as part of a team, my leadership abilities, and work ethic make me an ideal midfielder.  I feel with both my personal and physical developmental growth, I can be an impact player at the college level for your team.
