I started playing soccer as soon as I could walk. I played every sport when I could walk really. That was temporary because I truly hated all the other sports except soccer. From a young age I felt like I understood the game better than the kids around me. While they were chasing, I'm predicting where the balls going to pop out and where to pass the ball when I get it. To this day I still think my understanding is above others. My stats aren't crazy impressive, if anything there average, but if you watch you understand how important I am to my teams dynamic. I am a play maker, I don't think about my stats or if I will be the hero. I think about what will be best for my team. All the plays for my team run through me. I play for a D3 High school team and my playing style would be much better fit for talented soccer players instead of talented athletes, which is what most New England D3 schools consist of.
Starting from my elementary school days I was seen as one of the smarter kids. Looking back, I think I was just one of the lucky ones whose life was normal enough to focus on school. I was well off in a poor area. All my friends had lives I could not relate too. I then went to a private high school where I saw the exact opposite type of life. It felt as if whatever school I went to I had to be the opposite of the norm, because my life took a turn. My Dad left my mom, my brother and I my sophomore year. We to this day can only afford what we need and a little of what we want. Most people would be bitter, but I'm truly grateful, I have empathy that I did not realize I did not have before. I know that you never know what a person has going on in their life. Sometimes even a smile makes someones life exponentially better.
I was a straight A+ student until the second semester of Freshman year. I also, go to a private high school known for it's challenging course and immense workload. I started to mature into the person I am today. I started to realize you can learn more about life by living it, more than you would in school. Now, I'm not disregarding school and I'm not saying I don't work hard, my grades would show that I do. I'm saying that learning from others and expressing yourself freely with no restrictions is so vital to your future. High school is when a person defines oneself. I think that I'm paving a path for people to balance their high school lives. People are either are all school or all experiences and I hope that I am showing younger people how to reach their potential.
