Personal Statement

As long as I can remember I have been playing sports. I love to compete and feel like I was born to play. I started walking at 9 months and by the time I was 14 months old I was hitting baseballs, shooting baskets in my mini-hoop and scoring goals into my soccer net. My family has been supporting my passion for sports from the beginning. Ever since I was old enough to start playing organized sports I have played a different sport each season. I continue to be a three sport athlete at Trinity High School and started playing at the varsity level for Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball my sophomore year. Now as a junior, I am the captain of the Varsity Soccer team at my high school and look forward to the upcoming season.

Since I scored my first soccer goal I’ve known that I want to play at a competitive level in my future. I have always wanted to play in college and dream of being a professional athlete. I’m driven by the game and my will to always improve as a player. I am a focused athlete determined to always develop my skills and support my teammates. I feel my experiences as a 3 sport athlete provide me with many advantages and values. It allows me to use different parts of myself physically and mentally and I've learned how to adapt to several different coaching styles as well as play with many different types of athletes. I believe my desire to always improve and my drive to win will help me play at the next level.

My academic goals are similar to my athletic goals. I want to be a lifelong learner always improving on my academic skills in high school in order to be accepted into a competitive college. Then, I want to achieve my dream of earning a college degree in the field of sports. Athletics have provided me with so many opportunities making me want to be in a career where I can share the impact sports has made on my life, whether it be by teaching, coaching, or recruiting.

When I am not playing sports I am spending time with my family and friends. I am an active member at my church, Manchester Christian, involved in many community-based activities. I am also a member of Campus Ministries at my High School where we support many community based activities such as working with the New Hampshire Food Bank, New Horizons, NH Catholic Charities, and supporting Families in Transitions. The organization I am most passionate about is the Special Olympics. I have been attending Special Olympics events with my parents since I was born but recently I have become a volunteer for the Spring Track and Field events in New Hampshire. I truly believe sports are a way to bring people together and provide opportunities to everyone regardless of their abilities. I always want to be part of this incredible organization and someday when I have a family have them participate as well.
