Personal Statement
My name is Kush Mohan and I currently play for Black Rock FC’s Residential Academy at High Mowing School in New Hampshire, where I’ll be graduating in 2022. Originally from Sydney, Australia, it has been my ambition to play a high level of soccer whilst also receiving a great education, at the collegiate level.
Prior to my Australian departure, I played in the Australian National Premier League (NPL) since 2017. NPL is the highest level of youth football in Australia. I play all forward positions and have been since I first found my love for the game when I was 4 years old. My playstyle is a combination of great footwork along with explosive speed to control the tempo of the game from the front. Furthermore, I'm constantly hungry to win the ball and I love to press both high and hard, pushing my team to play to the best of their abilities.
I've been involved in a handful of tournaments. The most recent being earlier this year, in which I captained my side and won the King's School Sevens tournament. In 2017 I scored 8 goals in a 6 game, 2-day national tournament, 'The Bathurst Cup', where I took my team to the finals of the U14 age group. Back home, I was part of my school's track team and represented them for short-distance events at state and regional competitions.
Academically, I consider myself to be a very motivated student. Although I do not currently have a GPA as the Australian educational system differs, I still maintain strong grades and strive to continue this trend as the year's progress. I look to help my peers as best as possible, carrying the roles of Class Representative and Student Council, speaking out to resolve any issues among the student body that arise.
In Australia, I have been an active member of my local soccer community and have coached young players to pick up their skills at both an individual and club level. I have also completed the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award and was on my way to complete the Silver award when I was offered a scholarship to complete my junior and senior years at High Mowing. I am highly coachable, willing to accept criticism, and am keen to progress my game through diligence, and hard work.
Thank you for your time and look forward to hearing from you.
