Personal Statement
If you told me I would play a winning state championship match my Junior year as a starter, I would not have believed you. I have learned a lot about being a team player after being sidelined with a bad injury my eighth grade year, and working my way back. I am so, very grateful for all the support I have received. And one thing I now know, perseverance is not just a buzzword, but a quality you need to grab onto with all you have. It has helped me get back on my feet, practice and participate as hard I could in two sports, and helped me reach my dream of walking on a field again as a member of a team that is bigger than just me alone.
But growing perseverance also brought a surprise, which was belief in what I can do in other areas of life. I have wanted to be a peer leader since freshman year. As a Junior, being a part of the peer leader program has grown my leadership skills and allowed more freedom to learn other ways of being a part of a team. The collaboration, projects, relationships, and friends I now work with, will be with me always. I have found what I do well, and really enjoy, which is working on a team. I am looking for a program that continues to grow and challenge my team and leadership skills, but which also allows me to contribute as well. My experiences in two sports and leadership roles have prepared me to make a direct and positive impact to your collegiate team. I am excited to do so.
