Personal Statement
My collegiate goals are separated into two categories, academics and athletics. Academically I want to utilize the school for all it offers and get an education that will allow me to graduate and be able to provide for the community and my family. I plan to do this by continuing to be academically focused and to get involved in the school and all the activities it has to offer. My athletic goals for college are to become part of the schools soccer team and make an impact. If I was able to play soccer in college I am willing and committed to doing all that is needed to ensure that I make a difference and do the job that needs to get done in order to help the team succeed. I think that's one of the key reasons for why I am a good candidate for any college soccer team. I am not one to give up on anything and I don't plan on changing anytime soon. Anytime I do something I give it my all and I see that the task given to me is fulfilled to the standards of the person that gave me that mission. I know that character is a key component that coaches look at when selecting players and I have always been told that I am a standout character, I was never the kid to talk about himself so I will not and I will leave that to my former coaches to do, but I do have qualities that do set me apart from other candidates. Like I already said I am strong willed and I will see any task through, but I have many more standout characteristics. A few of them are I am not a complainer, I am willing to do whatever job in order to ensure that the team thrives. I am also honest and I will admit when I make a mistake and when I do make a mistake I do everything in my power to make up for that mistake. I think that is what helps me to stand out athletically. During a game if I make a mistake and lose the ball I do everything I can to get that ball back, I never give up on a play no matter how far behind I am. I am also able to see the field very well and it is almost like I can see the play before it happens. I am very good at knowing where the next ball will go and where I need to be in order to stop the opposing team in their tracks. I am also not afraid of contact, but rather if I see someone coming in I make sure I go in just as hard or harder to ensure that that ball ends up on my foot or my teammates foot. I am a big team player and I have never been focused on my own personal accolades, but instead the teams. The characteristics I mentioned before all carry over into the classroom. For me I was always taught that academics come first, but in my heart I always knew that soccer and academics both held that top spot. Both in the classroom and on the field I like to challenge myself. I think that is what helps me standout from other candidates because I am very academically focused and my grades, scores and transcript all show that. I have always been in honors or AP courses since they were offered and I have always challenged myself to do better in school. My academics and my sports are very similar because in both I like to challenge myself and I prefer to do a job of quality so that my teacher or coach know that I care about what I do and soccer has always been one of the most important things in my life and I am not satisfied with ending my soccer career in high school, but instead I would like to extend it into college because I know I've got a lot more soccer to play and I can promise to be a loyal, hard working and dedicated player that will give anything he does his all.
