Since a very young age I have been fascinated by the sport of soccer. Since then, my love for the sport has only grown as I have incorporated soccer in every facet of my life. Not only has my love for soccer grown overtime, but my knowledge of being able to visualize different playstyles and other aspects of the game have matured. As I have gotten older, I have increasingly faced more obstacles which I have worked hard to overcome. For example, at one point in my playing career, the age range for the teams had changed. As I am a young 2004 player, which presents more obstacles, I was playing for the 2005 team. Due to the age shift, I was forced to move up an age group. Despite initially being unfamiliar with my current teammates and coach, I made the team. Instantly, I began to work hard in order to remain on the team. Through my hard work, not only did I become a better player, but I was named captain of my team for the upcoming years.
Being captain of my team has instilled many characteristics of leadership in me. I am frequently a “middle man” on the field and am able to swiftly prevent arguments between my teammates. Additionally, I know how to motivate my teammates in order to work hard and become passionate before and during a game. I do this by not only being a supportive teammate but leading by example. I am willing to put my body on the line for any tackle, which spreads a message of passion to the rest of the team. This idea of passion, fighting for what I believe in, and working hard have been tools I have used in other aspects of my life, especially in school. In high school, effectively studying, despite having to balance soccer and track is a skill I possess due to learning the basics of hard work from soccer. Every marking period I strive to get at least an A in every class. I dream to have similar goals in college in a community that is right for me. My passion in achieving this goal and the hard work I do to achieve these goals come from playing soccer.
