Personal Statement
Well first I would like to thank NCSA for giving me this opportunity to express my love and passion for soccer in the next level of this sport. My name is John Baca, I'm from Artesia, NM which is a small town with the population of about 12,000 people. Growing up in such a small town the community only focused on one sport that sport is football. I was introduced to soccer at the age of 5 during the city league. I continued to play till my seventh grade year, when i was approached by the Head coach of Artesia soccer. Turns out he was asking me to start for him during the next season. Stepping on the high school pitch for the first time is so meaningful the rush of energy that you get is like no other. I fell in love with the sport during this time. The journey I took to get here is quit familiar but very different. My eighth grade season we went 2-15, which is one of the worst seasons recorded in our soccer program. Freshman year came along we had a 4-13 season and also lost one of our coaches. Being apart of the lower class-men, we took most of the blame for that season, we had to change that. We worked every single day in the summer. Sophomore season swung by we finished 9-8 we missed the state playoffs by one seed and we took second in district. I popped off 13 goals and 6 assist during this season, which named me offensive player of the year. During all of this I maintained a 3.7 GPA from eighth grade to now. I recently joined NSHSS (national society of high school scholars) which is where I was introduced to NCSA.
