Personal Statement
Going undefeated on my first soccer team was a big deal for me. This record sent my confidence through the roof. Soccer has helped define me as a person. Born in the island of Jamaica, soccer was the way of life. I developed the skill sets of discipline and perseverance, as I went through hours of training. I learned to master failure and grow from it when we lost games. I realized the importance of chemistry and support when I bonded with my team mates. I honed my leadership skills while being team captain.
The self confidence I gained from soccer made me fearless when taking risks and challenges. I became a young entrepreneur, starting and branding my own photography business. I learned the importance of community, so I volunteer as a photographer for non-profits. I am also my school's official photographer.
I set high academic goals because I am confident that I will achieve them because I know how to motivate myself and persevere until I succeed. I am excited about playing college soccer and know that I will make a mark at any college I attend. I look forward to being on campus. After all, there's only one Mikhail Eaton!
