Personal Statement
“Don’t just kick to kick”, this is the quote I remember my childhood coach telling the team. He wanted us to find a teammate, keep possession, and not just kick the ball away. This message has guided me through my soccer development. I aim to be as good with the ball at my feet as the field players in front of me. I have been fortunate to have worked with many excellent coaches, both team and position specific. I strive to be coachable and implement their lessons into my life, both on and off the field.
“Lessons in soccer, lessons in life” During quarantine I had to push myself to train independently, and to self motivate to grow as a person and as a player. I tried out for Hartford Athletic, a USL Academy team. I am now the starting keeper for the team. This experience has taught me how to handle pressure of intense training and playing top competition in the country (MLS academies). Playing at this high level has also taught me how to effectively manage my time to balance school work, increased travel, and training.
I envision myself playing soccer at a high collegiate level, where I can make a contribution on day 1. My leadership and communication skills, in addition to my tactical and technical skills, will help me to make a successful transition to college soccer. My ideal college experience will include strong academics and a culture of growth, support, and a sense of family/team.
