Personal Statement
All I've focused on for the last few years, was playing soccer whenever I could get my hands on a ball. So, last spring I thought my world was coming to an end when I experienced an incredibly sharp pain just as I was closing in on the finish line during a hundred yard sprint for my middle school track team. It turned out that I got a hip avulsion fracture that took me out of everything for almost two months.
Despite not moving for weeks, I came back slowly by working on the simple things first - like practicing shooting in my front yard and lightly jogging. After a couple months, I was able to do almost everything I could do previously. However, it still made my high school tryouts hard and, initially, I was disappointed not to make the position I had hoped for. Regardless, I decided to turn my attitude around and focus on being a leader for my other teammates and became team captain. In my role, I try to help others in developing their skill sets, while continuing to develop myself.
