I began playing soccer when I was four years old with a group called Super Soccer Stars.  As an extremely shy child, I remember feeling nervous and fearful in my early soccer years, even though I instantly fell in love with the sport. I was the kind of kid who never left home without a soccer ball at my feet, even walking to the grocery store or going to the movies. My parents recognized my enjoyment and encouraged me to play, and I eventually moved on to AYSO. When I was around eight years old, I transitioned to club soccer, finally landing at Metropolitan Oval Academy, where I have played since.

Being a soccer player has shaped who I am. It has bolstered my confidence as a person, allowed me to meet amazing friends and mentors, and provided me with an outlet for feelings. Soccer is a staple in my life, my greatest passion, that has seen me through the ups and downs of becoming a teenager. It's given me goals to work toward and the opportunity to be persistent and determined in my efforts to achieve them. I love the game not only for its vigorous physical requirements and sheer excitement, but also because being a part of a team, learning new skills, and analyzing on-field situations are so rewarding. The proudest moment of my soccer career was this fall, when my high school soccer team won the PSAL City Championships in New York City, and I featured as a starting player every game.

While soccer is my obsession, academics are very important to me as well. I enjoy thinking through problems and grappling with ideas in my school work, and I think the competitive attitude and ability to learn quickly that I have fostered through soccer has carried over to my life as a high school student. As I enter college, I am looking for an intense and enjoyable soccer experience, with an equally challenging academic program.
