My name is Julian Lanci and I have been playing soccer since I was 9 years old. I started late as a child compared to a lot of my friends but I fell in love with the sport immediately, even more so than how my friends did, perhaps it’s my Argentinean roots. I told my father that I wanted to play soccer and he did the best that he could to get me onto a team and play soccer. Ever since I went on my first team I absolutely loved it playing more than 4 times a week. Everyday I wanted to improve so I could have a chance to play on my best friends team but first I would need to make it onto a travel team. So I trained and trained until I was able to successfully get onto a travel team. From there I was able to improve and develop new skills that I was never capable of learning on my own. I was so committed to becoming a better player to the point where I wanted more training. I wanted to become the best player I could be, my dad found out where he could get me a personal trainer. At this point I was already 13 years old and I was improving exponentially. I even played for a year up. By the time I got into high school I wanted to try out for a better academy team so I did and tried out for a team called metropolitan oval and they are highly known across New York City. With this team I learned how to change my position and be an overall better player on the pitch using my weaker foot in practice more as well as doing ball skills with just my left foot. During the season I ended up playing against my childhood friend and beating his academy team. At the end of the season I was eager to learn more and play for an even better team. That is when I tried out for Barça Academy and got on the team and have been playing with them ever since. I have played with many players and many teams more than I have said already. I would be the best fit for any college team because I know how it feels to be the new player and I know how to communicate with my teammates to create a stronger bond on and off the pitch. With the knowledge of my soccer background, I am also a great student that is responsible in the classroom, always polite and respectful. I show a lot of my soccer personality in the classroom, always eager to learn more things and make new friends so we can all achieve the best end goal which is getting into the best colleges for ourselves.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my personal statement!
