Personal Statement
My name is Balthasar and ever since I first touched a soccer ball back when I was 3 I have been in love with the game. I was born in New York and lived there till I was 7. I started taking soccer seriously when I moved to Berlin when I was 7. Whilst I was playing in Berlin I played on two different club teams all of which provided great support and helped me develop tremendously. I first played for a club called Stern 1900 and played there for 2 years. Following that, I played another 2 years at Friedenauer TSC before I moved back to NYC at the start of my freshman year of high school. I started playing for a team called Downtown United Soccer Club or DUSC for short which is a feeder club for NYCFC. I also played high school soccer, where I made the varsity team in my first year. UNIS, the school I attended, has a strong soccer program that made the state finals the year before I made the team. In the 2019 season, we went undefeated in our league, won the league cup, and went to the states where we lost in a penalty shootout after double overtime. For my club team, the 2020 season was decent and I made the switch from winger to full back. I played at DUSC through the Corona Pandemic up until midway through the 21/22 season when I moved back to Germany where I rejoined Friedenauer TSC playing for their 1.A or their best youth team. As of halfway through the 22/23 season we are top of the table and gunning for promotion. With the switch to a 3-5-2 system I moved from full back to wing back preferably on the right side. I still intend on returning to the US for college and playing college soccer as that has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember.
