Personal Statement
Through soccer, I have learned the value of hard work, sacrifice, and teamwork. Above all, it has taught me to work with others effectively. Although I might pick up a yellow or even get injured in the process, it is the team’s success that is vital to me. On the pitch, I am a diligent worker who runs the extra yard. In addition, I am a very attentive listener. I consistently implement my coach’s instructions with precision. Furthermore, I am responsive to my teammates, engaging in a proactive back and forth that maximizes all opportunities to regain possession and score.
While soccer is one of the key elements of my life, I also strongly value academics and music. My strongest subjects are math and science therefore I am interested in majoring in those fields such as Computer Science. Just as I perform consistently well on the pitch, I make sure to invest time in my schoolwork so that I maintain a solid GPA. I am very talented at the clarinet, having made the highly selective All-County band every year from the 5th to 9th grade. What’s more, I made the New York Area All-State Band in my Sophomore year. Ultimately, I’m looking for a college whose soccer team competes at a high level, and will also challenge me academically.
