Personal Statement
My name is Lucas Mann. I am smart and hardworking and I love playing the game of soccer. I am very competitive and I will work as hard as possible to be the best I can be at anything.
I always want to take my game to higher levels, and have shown this by my commitment to club and high school soccer. I made the Varsity team as a freshman, and have had the opportunity to play against some great competition in high school and in tournaments like Kansas State Cup, Midwest Regional Cup, Dallas Cup and Surf Cup. As a sophomore, I made All State. My Junior year, East Chapel Hill moved to a larger division. I made All Region despite missing the first 8 games.
Whether I win or lose, I’m always thinking about what I can improve on after the game. I look for feedback from coaches and other players to help me get better after every practice and every game. The team needs each of us to work together for a common goal, and years playing club soccer has taught me the importance of trust and teamwork. This was especially important when I moved from Kansas City to North Carolina. I had to join new teams and make new connections with coaches and friends.
I pride myself on not being a selfish player and putting the team above myself. I am very committed to my school work as well. I have always been a dedicated student who shoots to be the best that I can be, not only on the field but also in the classroom.
