Personal Statement
My name is Carter Huffman, and I attend Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, North Carolina where I will be graduating in 2020. As a high-achieving student athlete, I want to pursue and prosper at the highest level of soccer possible. I have participated in soccer events at both local and regional levels while achieving excellence in the classroom. In the Fall of 2015, I was a standout player on the Wesleyan JV team where I played primarily midfield and was provided the opportunity to play various defensive positions. In 2016, my Freshmen year, I double rostered on the JV and Varsity teams due to my strong performance and work ethic. In 2017, as a Sophomore, I competed at Varsity in the midfield where we won the state championship. I am a current Junior where I play in the midfield for a competitive Varsity team. I look to continue my growth in soccer throughout my HS career at Wesleyan Christian Academy and my club team, NC 2001 Fusion Gold, in the spring as we look to advance deep in the state cup once again.
I am a very strong student at one of the top academic, private high schools in the state of North Carolina. Entering my junior year, my weighted GPA is 3.8 out of 4.0, and I am currently enrolled in advanced placement and honors courses and a member of the National Honor Society. While playing varsity soccer and performing volunteer service hours, I work part time at Chick – Fil – A.
Going forward, I will continue to utilize my high work ethic, determination, competitive nature, time management, and leadership skills to develop and grow. I believe these traits will help me face the challenges in achieving my goal of playing at a top U.S. academic institute with a competitive soccer program.
