Personal Statement
"Challenges Make Champions"
My goals when I go to college are to play soccer and go into the field of engineering. I believe I will accomplish this, because I will continue to maintain good grades and work on my soccer skills. I try hard to do the little things that my team and coach need for my team to be successful. I have a high soccer IQ and try not only to understand where I need to be on the field but also where my teammates need to be.
What makes me different than other players is what I've been through to get here. When I was younger, I had leukemia and then later got Celiac disease. I was really sick for a few years and couldn't gain weight or grow like other kids at that time. This really made it hard for me, because my new normal was different than other peoples. Since I was smaller than most players when I was getting treatment, I had to work twice as hard to improve my technical skills to compete. I feel like my past health issues have now turned into an advantage for me. I'm tougher than most and know that nothing that happens on the soccer field can be worse than what I've already been through as a kid. If I can beat cancer, then I know I can achieve anything.
