Personal Statement
Dear Coaches,
I am a playmaker. My role for Wake FC MLS Next is the equivalent of a point guard in basketball. I have the ability to see the entire field and can slow the game down or speed the game up. I am a dangerous attacker on either side, beating defenders down the line or cutting back inside and scoring at will. An additional strength is placing the ball accurately with either foot to my team mates in crosses, corners, and passes for assists. At 17 years old, I am 6 foot 2 inch, and have not yet reached my adult height. As the son of Division 1 collegiate track and field parents, I have grown up running and learning how to train to unmask my best athletic abilities. To stay in shape during my sophomore year, I ran track and field for my school. At age 15, I was the fastest 400m runner with a time of 50.2 seconds. My PASSION though, is soccer. Knowing I cannot solely lean on my speed to beat defenders, I have excelled at technical abilities and seek private trainings to learn more. As a sophomore, I was invited to play for U19 USL team at Wake FC and have now become a starter for this team.
Academically, I am taking honors classes this year. I received our school's anatomy/science award in 10th grade. In addition, I am well-rounded in my after school and summer activities. Multiple times a year, I travel on mission trips to help repair homes in rural areas affected by natural disasters. I have been able to use these experiences to become a leader amongst my peers. My team mates look up to me for guidance on the pitch as a captain and as a friend off the pitch. I am a playmaker in soccer and in life. I want to be a playmaker for my best college fit.
Thank you
