Personal Statement
I am Payton Smalley. I am interested in attending a prestigious University and pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. Attending Celina High School, I am in Advanced Placement classes. I participate in High School Soccer, Spanish Club, Lifeguard, Soccer and Swim Lesson Instructor, Soccer Referee, Nursing Home Volunteer and Grounds Keeper at a Senior Living Community.
I would like to continue playing soccer during my college career. I have played Academy Level Soccer and School Soccer since the second grade. Starting my Academy Play with the Columbus Crew Soccer Program, I played with the program for 5 years. Due to travel and level of training, I began training with the Ft. Wayne United Program (formerly Ft. Wayne Fever). My most recent team achievements are winning the Regional Semifinals for Division II, and most recently the Presidential State Cup for Indiana. My team represented the State of Indiana in the Midwest Regional game. The team was ranked number one in the state and fifteenth in the Region. I also represented my Club Team as a Midwest Regional Player and National Player. This is an honor chosen by my coaches. In addition, I was a starter for my Varsity Team as a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior year. This year, I am the Senior Captain voted by my teammates and coaches. Since I have been playing soccer, I have won several awards: ODP State and Regional Player for Ohio, MRL Player, NPL Player and All WBL Second and Third Team.
This upcoming spring I will play for Ft. Wayne United as a U19 Player. I will graduate in 2017.
Though I have achieved in soccer, I believe my biggest asset to my coach and team is my love for the game. Next, I am a versatile player. I play Midfield and Defense. Teamwork is very important to me, so I play where I am most valuable for my team.
I hope you see I would be an asset as a student athlete at your University.
